posted www.vkeong.com 879 ReviewsIf you frequent Kepong, you would notice that there are many bak kut teh restaurants with the same Chinese name – 兴记. This is not a coincidence because they are opened by the disciples of the same master who taught them the recipe. That also explains why their bak kut teh and supplementary dishes are so similar to each other. Recently we went back to the Heng Kee at Bandar Menjalara and were disappointed to learn that their bak kut teh had taken a dive. I wouldn’t say it was bad, but certainly not as nice as we remembered. If you are keen to know how 兴记’s bak kut teh is supposed to taste like, check out Heng Kee F.T. So what makes Palsaik Korean BBQ different from the other Korean BBQ restaurants? The answer lies in the unique 8-colour pork barbecue! The menu is also relatively simple, it comes in a wide spread of two-page menu, where you could opt for the set you preferred. We ordered the premium set which featured the signature 8-colour pork barbecue, grilled deodeok (Lanceolate) root and premium kimchi. We also had an additional trooper soup at the side while we wait for the barbecue pork to be ready.

The Craftisan is a new kid on the block and has just had its grand opening in early July 2017. Housed on the first floor of Soul Cafe, The Craftisan is an Ice Cream parlor that focuses on Gelato-inspired sweet treats. It gets points for the inspired creativity- for infusing Tea into their Ice Cream. The selection is full of Asian-leaning flavors- from refreshingly light Jasmine, Matcha to bolder ones like Tie Kuan Yin (Chinese Oolong Tea) and occasionally exotic delights like Durian Ice Cream. The cafe is brilliantly spaced and brightly lit, with clean and comfortable couches forming the homey-intimate atmosphere. It is a place best to chill out with friends over some sweet treats (if you do not mind the slightly higher price points).
