This place is definitely the real deal, and for the prices we would say that this place is absolutely a MUST TRY. The only thing they could do to achieve perfection would be to find a way to remove the “yellow mee” taste (which normally comes from processed noodles) that gives a slight imperfection to the broth. Nevertheless the gNOMes will definitely pay a second visit and more.

Mee was springy! doi-doi feel, 爽口 just the way i likey! the broth was slightly salty, well of course it’s soy sauce-based broth

The noodles at Santouka had this mild alkaline taste the first few mouthfuls, but then dissipated pretty quickly. The flavoursome broth is the highlight here, and should be the measuring stick for every good bowl of ramen.

Simply delicious. ... The pork cheeks were tender and slightly fat, very enjoyable topping for the ramen.

I personally prefer miso ramen to shio / shoyu ramen, as I find it more flavourful.

This restaurant is established in 1988 in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. Santouka founder - Hitoshi Hatanaka wanted to develop a classic Ramen for all to savored to the last, spoonful and topped with a fabulous char-siu pork. In essence, a masterfully assembled Ramen whose superior ingredients and magnificent, robust flavor would truly stand out and long-lasting.
