Five Senses
posted theyumlist.netReason to visit: inspired menu, great art, innovative culinary idea. For August 2017, Five Sen5es at The Westin Kuala Lumpur is offering an especially curated luncheon – inspired by the grains which inspired Taiwanese artist Liao Ying Hsi to create her stunning larger than life pieces – which are now on display both at Five Sen5es and at Art WeMe. This five course special menu is available all August, and offers a twist on how we use grains, seeds, and beans. Certainly an interesting experience, but one that opened the mind up to our earthy friends and how well they can be incorporated into some stunning dishes.

Tut's Egyptian Eatery
Who exactly is King Tut? Short for Tutankhamen, this monarch once ruled ancient Egypt over 3000 years ago. Even back then, Egypt was the place to be for traders and royalty, converging traditions and culture from other parts of Africa, Middle East, and Europe. That's what makes our culture so unique today. It's a rich melting pot of diverse influences which you can see in our cuisine too. Imagine a dish made with rice, pasta, lentils, and Middle Eastern spices (link to Koshari Carb Mix). Unlike any other Arab fare, this is Egyptian comfort food at it's finest.
posted www.spicysharon.comTut - short for King Tut, was a monarch that once ruled Egypt, some 3,000 years back. Fast forward to that afternoon, the meal I had at Tut's was not only fit for a king, but also our very own Malaysian tastebuds. The menu consisted of a handful of solo starters and sides, alongside chicken being in most of their main courses. The combination of ingredients used may looked diverse, but the flavors were not unexpected at all. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the food here, one of the reasons being the taste of most dishes have been tweaked to fit our tastebuds. Also contrary to what I initially presumed, Egyptian cuisine may be similar but not the same from Arabic cuisine. In fact, I thought the food reminded me more of Mexican instead, with a tinge of Mediterranean to boost. On that note, Tut's Egyptian Eatery is possibly the only Egyptian restaurant I know of in Malaysia.
Ancient Road Seafood 古代一路泥土鸡
posted www.kenhuntfood.com 780 ReviewsBeggar's Chicken (叫花鸡) has been one of the signature China Chinese dishes and its history can be traced back to the Ming-Qing Dynasty in China; today, the dish is popular in Jiangsu Province (of China). Inspired by this great dish, this Chinese restaurant tucked in a terrace house along the bustling Jalan Bagan Jermal has recently gained the attention of netizens for serving this old Chinese delicacy. But Ancient Road Seafood Restaurant is not a one trick pony, it has a great selection of Chinese Zhu Char dishes as well; in fact, we thought some of the Zhu Char dishes outshined the signature Chicken dish. Prices are most affordable except for the Chicken but if you appreciate the interactive process (diners ordering the Chicken may proceed to "unwrap and release" the Chicken from the Soil by hammering it), you will probably find it worth it.
