I discovered this restaurant a few months ago, recommended by a friend. Have since fell in love with the food. Must-tries: Grilled Salmon and moist chocolate cake!! I’m serious, you won’t believe how good it is till you try it.

I was searching online about Maria’s Restaurant and this site tops the google list! It’s a pity that they don’t have a website of their own. My husband brought me here yesterday for Valentine’s. We had wagyu steak and lamb cutlets as our main course. I must say these were very well-seasoned, tasty and tender! The portion for the lamb was slightly small though. I am surprised a small establishment like this beats the over-rated food quality of franchises. And joeylee, you were right about the chocolate cake – the best flavour and texture I’ve had so far.
I’ll certainly come again as I missed the Grilled Salmon!

erm. to be accurate, it is PJ. not kl. i’ve been here sooo many times and the menu haf been the same since like 10 years ago (i mean the ipoh branch). i know the menu by hard damn. dunno wat to recommend but tis place is definitely my parent’s top choice when it comes to lookin 4 good food.. maybe coz ipoh not much choice lol.
mum alwiz ta pau the chicken pie and pastries 4 our lunch slurpss. When we come for dinner, we alwiz eat the expensive stuff. they keep upgrading their meat quality, i remember many years ago, we thought the 30+bucks u.s. rib eye was a big deal. then they introduce stg else, and a year ago they brought in japanese kobe. My dad is like a regular here… so the chef always recommend new food to him…
DAMN I MISS THE JAPANESE KOBE!!!

i hate maria’s cafe. tat place has ruined my life. literally. if i have on regret in life … this would be it. if i can turn back time… i’d rather drop a brick on my head to stop myself from stepping intto that place of my doom. here’s what happened. after hearing many good things abt tat place… esp tat shepherd pie.. so there i was walking carefreely into the tastefully renovated shop… without realizing that i have sealed my fate right there and then. the service was prompt and even the gurls were cuter there. the menu came and i ordered my selection. my order came pretty quick… but not in a fast foody kinda way. the person who served me had exquisite manners… which i appreciated after encountering many undesirable servers. anyway… as i was bathing myself in that subtle warm ambient of the place i took one bite of my pie… and all hell broke lose. right at that moment i knew… it was bad. so very bad. irreconcilably bad. irreversibly bad. i wanted to spit it out… make myself forget about the taste. but i can’t. i have lost control of the mechanisms of my body… and found myself pigging away at the rest of the pie. it was beyond the best. so here’s my problem now. after that i’ve completely lost my motivation in life. once u’ve had the best… u do not want the rest. and since that day i’ve become a ghost. and maria’s cafe is my favorite haunting place. so if u see a person sitting along… seemingly talking to his food… don’t be alarmed. it’s just harmless o’ me.

this is a place who does the real thing. Western connoisseurs out there, here are my recommendations: Wagyu (minimum grade 5), black angus (worth the price), fish & chips and the cakes. You won’t go wrong.
