The name "Kampachi" is not an unfamiliar name to most of those people who would love Japanese cuisine.

In the words of Chiharu Yabe, General Manager of Kampachi Restaurants, “this is a great way to experience different cultures of Japanese food and the Japanese are so passionate about food, they practise kuidaore – eat till you drop!” That sounds very Malaysian to me, too!

This Japanese restaurant which belongs to a British restaurant chain which is mostly based in London. This restaurant looks rather attractive, with bright colours and comfortable seats for customers. They do not keep sushi on the kaiten belt for more than 2 hours.

Overall, it is still a place for such Japanese food. Yo! Sushi

The restaurant is bright and comfortable. Meal is good and price quite reasonable compared to other Japanese Restaurant.

Hubby ordered the Sizzling Black Pepper Yakiniku Gozen (RM39.90), which comes with sizzling black pepper beef, salmon sashimi, chawanmushi, appetizer, miso soup, rice and fruit. After seeing my order, I concluded that Hubby's set meal is good value for money. The sizzling beef was pretty tasty and came in quite a big portion. Even his salmon sashimi came in 4 thick slices.

Famous for their Hokkaido soft serve ice cream and their funky creations.

Bad

Slightly less sweet compare with the previous one. I somehow not really impressed with the Hokkaido ice cream because it is not really special to me. Indeed the ice cream is smooth but it is just too sweet. Is it original Hokkaido ice cream like that or they changed the recipe to suit our local culture here?

Made popular by Kunio-Ichinose-san, the concept of giving diner total control over his meal by serving the meal in its most natural raw state and allowing the diner to sizzle his meal the way he wants it took Japan by storm when it was first launched in 1994. One of the fastest growing food chains in Japan, with more than 250 outlets in Asia Pacific to-date covering countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and China, Pepper Lunch is a novel culinary experience you do not want to miss.

They also have their special sauce which I also recall trying when I ate at Pepper Lunch sometime back which is the Garlic Soy Sauce And the Honey Brown Sauce

I must say, Santouka do serve one of the nicer ramens I've had in recent times. Now if only the pricing could have been more afffordable, but I do understand all the preparation and hard work put into every soup base and dishes served here. Do check out Hokkaido Santouka Ramen the next time you're in Pavilion KL and looking to have some ramens.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

Cuisines Japanese
Business Hour Opening Hours; Mon – Sun: 10:00 am-10:00 pm

Tokyo Street, Hokkaido Santouka Ramen, Spicy Ramen, Shio Ramen, Eggs, Tokusen Toroniku (Pork cheek char siu), Caesar Salad, Komi Tamago, Tori Karaage, Tori Gyoza, Shoyu Ramen (RM22.50 – S, RM25 – M), ...

This place is definitely the real deal, and for the prices we would say that this place is absolutely a MUST TRY. The only thing they could do to achieve perfection would be to find a way to remove the “yellow mee” taste (which normally comes from processed noodles) that gives a slight imperfection to the broth. Nevertheless the gNOMes will definitely pay a second visit and more.

Exceptional

I have chosen Green Tea @RM3.50, Peach Cream @RM3.50, Red Bean @RM3.50, Caramel Macchiato @RM3.50, Red Bean @RM4.00 and Sakura @RM4.00. Sakura is their best selling one but to me that is the worst one to choose. Just one tiny bite and I already decided not to eat the whole thing. It taste like eating medicine. I hate such a taste. As for others, all are splendid especially the red bean, you will taste the real red bean flavor rather than awfully sweet taste where most of other shops are selling such. The rich red bean taste really making me wanted for more!

Kyo-ei Tokyo Ramen

Cuisines Japanese

Japanese Ramen, Ramen, Kyo-ei Ramen, Lot 6-01-01, Level 6, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, 55100, Kuala Lumpur.

Non-halal.

Superb

There are 3 kind of Ramen broths at Kyoei: Shoyu(醤油)which simply means soy sauce, Shio(塩)for salt and Miso. I have ordered shio for this bowl and plain salty is not just the thing I fond of. Nevertheless, the soup was still flavorful, though its clarity would suggest otherwise. Char Siew(on the left) , also known as yakibuta(焼き豚)in Japanese, was rolled into a log , seasoned with Kyoei special sauce overnight and braised in low temperature. It will be perfect, with a tad more tenderness on the meat. Though with the same name of Char Siew, Japanese differ from Chinese by not using the seasoning of red food colouring, sugar and five-spice powder(五香粉). Take a proper look at the Ramen (on the right). It was the noodle that has totally changed my perspective of yellow noodle with alkaline smell(which I would avoid at all cost). The irregular noodle shape (due to handmade noodle of bamboo stick) giving springy yet firm texture to the mouth.
