Foodie Review
Restoran Kari Kepala Ikan Tiga
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsSuperbWe love our steamed fish head, so when we stumbled upon this restaurant, we stopped and walked in. We gave their Famous Steam Fish Head a try and were not disappointed. The fish was fresh and I liked how it was spicy with garlic flavour.
Tree Monkey
The restaurant, Tree Monkey, was thus born on 30 July 2010, which name was prompted by the nearby free roaming dusky leaf monkeys.
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsSuperbI really liked the outdoor dining area, as in addition to the scenic ocean view, it felt as though we were treetop dining. A few months down the road on another trip up to the island, I brought some friends here, too.
Pun Chun Restaurant
The duck soup came with strong herbs aroma. Smell nice
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalMention Bidor and the first image that flashes in my mind is a busy restaurant at the corner of a row of pre-war shophouses situated along a busy street. If I remember correctly, my first visit was in 9-years-old. We were on a holiday to Penang with Grandpa and this restaurant was our toilet stop. This restaurant was non other than Pun Chun Chicken Biscuits & Restaurant. The toilet stop became our lunch and shopping stop, as this is the original restaurant famous for Duck Drumstick Noodle (RM6.50).
Pizza San Francisco
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalHe asked if I have ever tried it and when I shook my head, he decided that I should give it a try. "A calzone is like a pizza, but like a folded up version," he explained. "I've had it a few times with my brother. It's not too bad. Eat it with the sauce, it's nice."
MY Vegetarian
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsSuperbEvery time Mum and I are alone at home, we would dine at MY Vegetarian. They are a franchise chain of vegetarian fast food with a Taiwanese feel.
Charco Restaurant Cafe
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalTo have a cousin who is learning to be a pastry chef is both a blessing and a curse. Why? Well, because if not for him, I would not have learnt about Charco and the food that they offer.
Levain Boulangerie and Pattiserie
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalThere was a time when friends were incessantly posting photos and checking-in on Facebook when they dined at this place. I wondered what all the hype was about, really. Although I have been driving past this place for a few years since I attended piano lessons over in the Imbi area, I did not realise its popularity. And so when the bestie asked where to go for lunch, I quickly suggested Levain.
Restaurant Sin Ki
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalEvery time my flight arrives the airport right before dinner time, we would make a detour into Dengkil town. As this restaurant is situated along the main road (they are diagonally opposite the primary school) and do not have proper parking available, we try to get there before the dinner crowd to increase our chances of getting a spot (for our car and also for ourselves at the restaurant).
Balik Pulau Home Cooked Asam Laksa
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsSuperbAs we drove into its compound, I noticed how it was surrounded by tall durian trees and soon after found out that it was a durian orchard, too. I also noticed that they converted their front porch into an open- air restaurant surrounded by greenery - very smart idea to take advantage of their hilltop location, where it is breezy.
Restoran Sun Sea OUG Pork Noodles 山海茶餐室豬肉粉
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalAfter a short wait, our six bowls of pork noodle goodness arrived piping hot. I thought for RM5.50 ($1.90) per bowl, the serving portion was not bad - almost as big a serving as what we would normally get served in Sydney. It came with plenty of greens and unlike other pork noodle stalls, this also contained some seafood like prawn and squid. Perhaps these additional ingredients were what made their broth stand out from other stalls.
Padi House Sri Petaling
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalSituated right next to PappaRich, Padi House is an attention-grabber. From the exterior to the interior, I was attracted by its layout, the natural materials, its earthy colours, the greenery and its laidback atmosphere.
Yee Kee Porridge Restaurant 余記粥
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalYee Kee Porridge Restaurant had humble beginnings. They had a small stall with just two tables and a few stools at the then Pasar Besar Seri Kembangan. They have been known to locals for the past 75 years and as you would have guessed from its name, it is a family business.
Kissaten
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalQuick service with the option of outdoor and indoor seating. I would imagine that there would be lots of smoking and alcohol drinking later in the evenings and during weekends. Otherwise, it makes for a family-friendly environment, too.
Fong Lye Taiwan Restaurant 蓬莱茶房
Nice environment to take a short break after visiting so many stores in Mid Valley. All the sofa are PVC leather cushions and very comfortable.
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptionalFor many years, I have walked past this restaurant. In fact, since it opened its doors how ever many years ago. I remember their drinks to be quite expensive and made a mental note not to order drinks should I visit again. The braised pork with noodle set was not too bad. Would have preferred the noodles to be cooked slightly longer for that chewy texture.
O & S Restaurant
Delicious Hawkers Food
chryshijing posted chryshijing.blogspot.com.au 55 ReviewsExceptional"You want to have char kway teow at O & S?" I furiously nodddddddd...... To consume char kway teow in all its pork lard, charcoal wok hei and high-cholesterol cockle glory, one has to be eating this at a noisy, crowded, hot and somewhat smelly hawker centre in the midst of plastic tables and chairs. Did I just spoil the image for everyone?
