SuperbHow unique is "Let It Rain"? Or in Mandarin, 下雨吧, which literally means just rain. Like, aiya, just rain la... how apt for the scorching hot weather in KL at the moment. The set up of the cafe is pretty simple and being creative people, there was evident use of recycled and inexpensive material. More importantly, they welcome visitors warmly.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbI found out about Le Pont Boulangerie through David, their in-house coffee expert, whom I recently got to know through his smaller venture across the road. Coincidentally, it was their official opening the day I visited his smaller venture with Ray. Too many people and too many cars deterred me from visiting Le Pont to congratulate them.....chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbCheryl dabbled in a few things before settling down to start a family and completed a pastry course. During my younger years, Dad would share stories from the office relating to how she was helping Aunty Millie in the kitchen. Rest assured that food here is served from the heart, as Cheryl has been practicing her craft from young.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbLocated above a car workshop, this unassuming cafe is the brainchild and a side hobby/income of Jon, a person who lectures at a local institution. It is obvious from the interior decor that he is someone who is really into the movie business. Or at least, arts and entertainment.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

The Owls Cafe @ Bukit Jalil
SuperbWhat is in a name? Well, everything. This cafe is called The Owls Cafe and naturally would carry an owl theme. As I love owls, I love everything in this cafe - the mural, the decor, the teapots, everything! You can say that I instantly had a cafe crush, if there existed such a thing.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbWe found out about Unkaizan through TripAdvisor. It is situated slightly off the main road, on a very steep part of the hill, which made parking the car very interesting. We noticed that some of their wait staff were actually Japanese and immediately we felt, okay, we may end up having a really authentic Japanese experience. Starting with warm towels and green tea with oomph, things were looking promising.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbMany KLites and Selangorians purposely make trips to Klang for this dish and everyone would have their personal favourite restaurant. My personal favourite is Restoran Weng Heong in Taman Intan.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbApparently, this place was started by three brothers and I had a feeling that either one of them or all of them had some proper Italian cuisine training of some sort because I spied with my little eye the different types of pasta they had! I was impressed at how they made everything from scratch. However, this meant that our food took longer to prepare, which had us waiting for quite some time.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
GoodThe cafe is operated by two friends. One looked after the floor and drinks while the other looked after the kitchen and hot meals. I do not recall if both or one of them were in New Zealand and incorporated some of the Kiwiness into the cafe.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbWe had a cheesecake. Oh so fluffy little thing, it was. Why can't they make it slightly bigger? I can hear them retort with a why can't I order another one... And there was no way on Earth that we were leaving the place without trying their coffee... smooth and just right for my liking.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

GoodThey are a part of the D'Group establishment of restaurants, which also includes D'Italiane and Ketchup. They started from a humble Italian restaurant in Section 9 of Shah Alam and from there, they expanded to Jaya33 in 2007, Sunway Giza in 2009, Paradigm Mall in 2012 and one year later, here in Plaza33. They aim to bring to diners variations of modern fusion fare that blends Eastern and Western flavours, something that was evident in their extensive menu.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbIt would be a pity not to try their coffee since they source their coffee beans from the reputable WA Cafe. The croissant, eaten on its own with no fillings, especially when just out of the oven, is delicious!chryshijing.blogspot.com
SuperbRecently, a friend has been frequenting a cafe, apparently new in our hood. The photos she shared showed a place in a lot of pink and with a unique name, Flying Teapot. One night, we chose this cafe as our catch up venue. The main theme was, as you could assume from the name of the cafe, teapots. As such, the place was decorated with many teapot fixtures, such as teapot lampshades, teapot lighting, teapot telephone, teapot clock and teapot holders to name a few.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

Antipodean Cafe @ Bangsar
ExceptionalFamous for their Australian-style brekkie and coffee, I opted for a lighter meal of French Toast with Berry Compote (RM14.00/AUD4.80) instead of a heavy big breakfast. I should have asked for the toast to be wholemeal instead of white bread. Berry compote was delectable, I finished it all.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalSince opening their doors in 2006, they have made headlines in the local dessert scene. Their name travelled all the way from Melaka to KL. Friends who visit Melaka on a day trip would try their hardest to pack their famous mille crepe cakes in iced cooler bags.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbAlthough I have visited Melaka a few times, I have not really had any authentic Nyonya food. We took a drive around town and saw this restaurant. We decided to give them a try. The exterior was done up to imitate a the front of a traditional Peranakan house, complete with a pair of paper lanterns hanging on both sides. Even the interior sported black and white photos tastefully displayed in wooden photo frames. Marble top tables were flanked by wooden chairs with rattan weaving.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

SuperbI really liked the mainly white and simple interior of the place. The waitstaff who served us was probably a newbie, as she was quite unsure of the ingredients that made up the dishes we ordered. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the food we ordered and would not hesitate to recommend this place to all my health-freak family and friends.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

Mum and Dad were not too impressed when they visited, though. Same here, other than the wide selection of food, I was not too impressed with the quality of the food.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

Pun Chun Restaurant @ Bidor
ExceptionalMention Bidor and the first image that flashes in my mind is a busy restaurant at the corner of a row of pre-war shophouses situated along a busy street. If I remember correctly, my first visit was in 9-years-old. We were on a holiday to Penang with Grandpa and this restaurant was our toilet stop. This restaurant was non other than Pun Chun Chicken Biscuits & Restaurant. The toilet stop became our lunch and shopping stop, as this is the original restaurant famous for Duck Drumstick Noodle (RM6.50).chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalHe asked if I have ever tried it and when I shook my head, he decided that I should give it a try. "A calzone is like a pizza, but like a folded up version," he explained. "I've had it a few times with my brother. It's not too bad. Eat it with the sauce, it's nice."chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbEvery time Mum and I are alone at home, we would dine at MY Vegetarian. They are a franchise chain of vegetarian fast food with a Taiwanese feel.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalTo have a cousin who is learning to be a pastry chef is both a blessing and a curse. Why? Well, because if not for him, I would not have learnt about Charco and the food that they offer.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalThere was a time when friends were incessantly posting photos and checking-in on Facebook when they dined at this place. I wondered what all the hype was about, really. Although I have been driving past this place for a few years since I attended piano lessons over in the Imbi area, I did not realise its popularity. And so when the bestie asked where to go for lunch, I quickly suggested Levain.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalEvery time my flight arrives the airport right before dinner time, we would make a detour into Dengkil town. As this restaurant is situated along the main road (they are diagonally opposite the primary school) and do not have proper parking available, we try to get there before the dinner crowd to increase our chances of getting a spot (for our car and also for ourselves at the restaurant).chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbAs we drove into its compound, I noticed how it was surrounded by tall durian trees and soon after found out that it was a durian orchard, too. I also noticed that they converted their front porch into an open- air restaurant surrounded by greenery - very smart idea to take advantage of their hilltop location, where it is breezy.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalAfter a short wait, our six bowls of pork noodle goodness arrived piping hot. I thought for RM5.50 ($1.90) per bowl, the serving portion was not bad - almost as big a serving as what we would normally get served in Sydney. It came with plenty of greens and unlike other pork noodle stalls, this also contained some seafood like prawn and squid. Perhaps these additional ingredients were what made their broth stand out from other stalls.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalSituated right next to PappaRich, Padi House is an attention-grabber. From the exterior to the interior, I was attracted by its layout, the natural materials, its earthy colours, the greenery and its laidback atmosphere.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalYee Kee Porridge Restaurant had humble beginnings. They had a small stall with just two tables and a few stools at the then Pasar Besar Seri Kembangan. ExceptionalFor many years, I have walked past this restaurant. In fact, since it opened its doors how ever many years ago. I remember their drinks to be quite expensive and made a mental note not to order drinks should I visit again. The braised pork with noodle set was not too bad. Would have preferred the noodles to be cooked slightly longer for that chewy texture.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au

O & S Restaurant @ Paramount
Exceptional"You want to have char kway teow at O & S?" I furiously nodddddddd...... To consume char kway teow in all its pork lard, charcoal wok hei and high-cholesterol cockle glory, one has to be eating this at a noisy, crowded, hot and somewhat smelly hawker centre in the midst of plastic tables and chairs. Did I just spoil the image for everyone?chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbJudging from the crowd (it was slightly past lunchtime) and what they were eating, I quickly gathered that they are famous for their chicken and prawn noodle in soup. Dad did the ordering, as I had no clue but I did want some greens. Crispy and fresh. And then there was steamed fish. Plain and simple but lovely. The taste of ginger was not overpowering and it was at the right saltiness level. Flesh of the fish just slipped off the bones. May I say that their braised chicken feet and pork belly were AWESOME.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalA stone's throw away from Taman Desa, Scott Garden very quickly became a convenient meeting point for gatherings and reunions. One evening, we randomly decided to head there for dinner. None of us had any experience dining there so any outlet would not matter, which was how we ended up eating at Sambal.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbMy trip back to KL is never complete without a visit to Esquire Kitchen. This is almost always the first place Mum and Dad suggest for family dinner. They boast Szechuan and Shanghainese flavours, home-cooked style.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalThe old school bicycles at the entrance caught my attention. The red went well with their signage. They had an airy, clean, simple, open, no fuss concept. And bamboo appeared to be their feature material. The ceiling and lampshades were made with bamboo.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
ExceptionalPerhaps because I had something else to compare with, I found them very typical Taiwanese dessert. The texture of their toppings was chewy and soft while their shaved ice had the melt-in-your-mouth quality, and in humid Malaysia, that is always a welcome treat.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
SuperbDad and I love their original dry pan mee with minced pork and mushrooms, which is served with a bowl of sweet leaf soup. The chicken bone and dried anchovies soup, boiled for hours, is flavoursome. Occasionally, I order their traditional soup pan mee. RM10 comfortably covers a bowl of noodles plus one drink, with some spare change. Not bad for a cosy, comfortable and clean environment with quick and friendly service.chryshijing.blogspot.com.au
