A “bak kut teh” shop that is a crowd puller.
The meat’s fantastic, as I asked for them to ensure there’s more fats than meat. That’s precisely what I received, along with some ribs and some vegetables. As for the soup? I feel that there’s abit too much MSG for my taste

This is the traditional style Hokkien BKT as Hokkiens like it [together with the garlic & chilli padi] – I should know having eaten BKT for breakfast since 1955 as a young child and know every single BKT place in Batu Road, Chow Kit Road, Ipoh Road from that time as a young boy – although of late I think the boss at Ban Lee has added a bit more msg [or maybe I am getting more sensitive to msg since I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2] – if you are a regular you get fresh pork ribs and chop cutlets cooked on a separate claypot [instead of having the meat from the common pool or pot – better still if you can speak Anhui Hokkien and you become kah kee lung – the proof is in the pudding – I am a 5.30 am regular – that is the other thing about BKT – the true regulars are there at dawn and bring their own tea & traditional teapot, cups & utensils – and BKT is not BKT when you do not have perfect Tikuanyin – and only then you realise the essence of bak kut and the teh and the “kong koh” [chit-chat]
