The noodle is still missing cockles but I did notice a stronger ‘wok hei’ this time around. So I would still rate this a solid 7/10 – and that’s actually very good for a small town like BM.

Tea Spa House (森林茶坊)
Enjoy quality Chinese Tea amidst of serene greenery at the foot of Cherok Tokun Hill, Bukit Mertajam. The Tea Spa House was initially set up to provide a rest stop for hikers but it was popularized by the locals for its simple, healthy and inexpensive light snacks.

Prices are reasonable but we thought the service could be better, both serving speed and hygiene. It took them nearly 45 minutes to dish out our orders and most of the eating utensils were very greasy; plenty of room for improvement.

Duck Egg Char Koay Teow
The quality seemed to be still maintained – good wok hei that oozed ‘warmth’ when you spread out the noodles, aromatic with lard, lots of bean sprouts and also generous amount of cockles and prawns.
GoodHis charcoal duck egg char koay teow was slightly different than Jalan Pasar as he added Chinese sausage and topped with duck egg for RM 4.00. The koay teow was similarly fried with their mysterious dark sauce, cockles and bean sprouts. We were amazed by how tauke manage to stick the duc...k egg stick to every piece of the koay teow. This definitely worth trying. read more
