Foodie Review
Joo Hooi Cafe 愉園茶室
d_luaz postedSuperbDecent duck egg fried keoy teow from RM 6+. The famous chendol is just next door, but the shop charge a surcharge to bringing the chendol in.
Kheng Pin Cafe 群賓茶餐室
You can find different types of hawker food there like Char Koay Teow, Loh Bak, Yu Sang Kai Chok (Porridge), Chicken rice and others. Kheng Pin café is an old style café where you will still find those old fashioned marble tables and wooden chairs.
d_luaz postedSuperbLobak, crunchy and not oily. Less than RM 10 for 2 person.
Toh Soon Cafe 多春茶座
This place is suitable for breakfast and also tea time. This is one of the gem in Penang Island. It’s just a simple stall located at a small alley in Campbell Street but it’s always crowded with people. The coffee is the famous item in this cafe too, do order a cup if you drop by this cafe.
d_luaz postedSuperbSimple breakfast with coffee and toast and half boil egg, but it's a charming environment with a good vibe. Nasi Lemak available as well.
Ayu Mee Udang
d_luaz postedSuperbVery far from Georgetown, but the Mee Udang soup is really tasty with 4 big prawns.
New World Park Food Court
LEE ENG LAI, now in his late fifties, recalls that his grandfather Lee Kar Tee and grand uncle Lee Ah Keat started selling ice kacang as a roving stall in the Jalan Rangoon area in 1923. His father, Ah Kang (Kar Tee’s son), later inherited the stall and moved it to a permanent position. Eng Lai, his brother Eng Huat and sister Ah Kee (above) have been involved in running the stall since the 1960s, when it was next to a snooker bar. Originally, in the 1920s, a bowl of basic ice kacang cost half a cent, now it is RM1.50. Early in 2007, the stall moved into the new New World Park (Sin Sei Kai) food court opposite with ample parking.
d_luaz postedGoodTried the famous Swatow Lane ice kacang, it's okay but not worth a detour.
Kedai Kopi Lam Ah
d_luaz postedGoodFried oyster is crunchy and unique, worth a try. Didn't try the beef noodle.
Kafe Heng Huat 興發茶室
Kuey Teow was fried under charcoal fire.
d_luaz postedSo soI think it's too overpriced (starting from RM 8.50), and pay RM 3 for the parking next door. Taste wise it's okay, with 3 big prawn, but nothing too fantastic to justify premium pricing.
TiPsy Brew O'Coffee
Serving the finest specialty roasters, Tipsy Brew O’Coffee brew by hand using syphon, hand-drip, french press and any other apparatus they deem worthy on the day.
d_luaz postedSuperbTipsy is certainly getting more popular nowadays, probably thanks to their breakfast offerings on top of their cakes and coffee. I love having breakfast or after meal coffee here :)
Saravanaa Bhavan
d_luaz postedSuperbIt serve very nice Indian food, and it's the same Franchise we went to in New Delhi. The Paneer Tika Masala (goes well with Naan) is tasty, Paneer Puri is both cute and tasty :) Saw the next table order some gigantic Puri, would like to try it next time.
Dip 'n Dip Chocolate Sweets & Coffee House
d_luaz postedGoodThe place seems crowded most of the time. There are plenty of chocolate crepes, fondues, waffles and beverages. Quite a place for chocolate lover.
Terminal Sate Zul
This place is by far the ONE satay restaurant that never failed to satisfy me. The barbecued meat are juicy, generous, & very flavourful.
d_luaz postedExceptionalA very good satay place. The nasi impit, chicken and lamb satay is superb.
The Hungry Hog
d_luaz postedSuperbNice ambiance, large portion, good food, reasonable pricing.
Kedai Kopi Min Ren (名人)
Good place for breakfast, decent and cheap.
d_luaz postedSuperbWonderful Teh Si, best Nasi Lemak in Puchong and a pretty good Vegetarian noodle stall, and always crowded for weekend breakfast.
