The rice is cooked to perfection, nary undercooked with a layer of aromatic crusty rice at the bottom of the pot which is a treasure to unearth as one dig deeper. Their chicken is always cooked just right, retainining its juices. The secret to such perfections is by cooking the claypot with firery charcoals under AND above the claypots! Madam Heun has been in this business for 21 years and she says that eventhough her children are now all grown up and have asked her to retire, she is still in it for the pleasure and joy of seeing people enjoy her food.

Heun Kee Claypot Chicken Rice tucked just under the highway at Jalan Yew, Pudu and has been established since the 90’ by Madam Heun May Lan.

One of the best restaurant chains, and perhaps the oldest as well, in the Klang Valley

Otherwise, the food here is not bad. Better than the branch in Endah Parade.

Business Hour Everyday, 9.30am to 7pm

ANDY LAU and his family started this pau (steamed bread dumpling) business in 1992 at Taman Connaught, Cheras and named one of their big buns after a famous sexy Hongkong actress called Yip Chee May aka Amy Yip. This bun is three times the normal tai (big) pau—its width is 18cm, weight 450g). At RM5.00 each, Yip Chee May Tai Pau is a favourite not only among the locals in Cheras or Kuala Lumpur but also those from outstation.
