Zakuro Two Japanese Restaurant
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalThe restaurant is located within an upscale cluster of small offices and home offices (SOHOs) development called Scott Garden, and looked a lot like Publika. Tesco is the main anchor and its hyper mart is conveniently located at the lower floors. Taking the escalator up to the first floor Zakuro is situated on the right side of shoplots flanking the long alley/walkway. Great first impressions as we walked into this restaurant, looking around at the pleasant decor, taking in some incredible aromas, and being greeted and seated courteously and efficiently by the “maître d’”. Truth be told, Brendan’s had better Udon at Sanuki while Cat and I agreed that Yokozuna (for the same price) had a wider choice of set meals and their portions more generous. But for the discounted price of RM14.90 a set we were not complaining much. Would we come again? To be perfectly honest if the set meals remained at the same price we would give this a pass in future.
Restaurant Bao Bao 你吃宝宝了吗?
This restaurant is owned by and runs by a group of talented young people.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalWe came across this restaurant which Cat says (oddly enough) means “have you eaten at Bao Bao yet?” or something to that effect in Mandarin. Being an end lot, the restaurant has no wall on one side providing excellent ventilation. A lot of the times we demur from a few restaurants that were stifling and stuffy. With furnishings with wooden chairs and tables, you get an almost “school canteen” feel about the place. While we had no issues with the taste of the dishes we were eventually served with, we had problems with the blatant misrepresentation. What was touted as Fried Pork with Nan Lu Pan Mee in the end turned out to be normal Pan Mee with Barbequed Pork Belly (“Char Siu”), with no hint of fermented bean curd at all! Oh well, since it is a small unassuming and nondescript restaurant, we will take no further offence.
Steven's Corner
The service here is usually impecabble and they are usually quite attentive.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbWe’ve been meaning to come here for a very long time now. The Pandan Indah and Setapak outlets have always been very dear to our hearts and visiting the original Sri Steven’s Corner here in OUG is almost like performing a pilgrimage. The coordinates provided by Google Map ultimately led us to a quiet residential area (somewhere along Jalan Hujan Emas). We made some quick adjustments to the coordinates and a search for Jalan Hujan Rahmat 2 on our GPS navigator eventually led us properly to the premises. Located along a narrow road near the OUG wet market, we were thankful to be here during the daytime, we can imagine that at night (during peak hours) parking can be a b*tch here. Cat and Brendan enjoyed their dishes immensely; Brendan took particular pleasure in his banana leaf rice with spiced chicken cutlets. I had to agree with the good reviews the Nasi Lemak received, and adored it as well.
Kuchai Lama Foodcourt
Special and New Taste from China Chongqing, Good for people who like to spicy and tasty food.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbWe absolutely love coming to food courts for their sheer variety. This has got to be the biggest food court we’ve been to so far. To say that we were spoilt for choice here is a gross understatement, believe you me. What can we say? Brendan and I enjoyed our dishes, but Cat was over the moon with hers. It’s been a long while since she’s had these dishes (not readily available where we live) and she absolutely loved it. In fact, the huge crowd that this food court draws is testament to the good food here.
Sanuki Udon
The simply fitted place located at a very quite area behind residential houses at Taman Bukit Desa.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbThe verdict? Hands downs some of the best what flour noodles we’ve had so far. Then again, we have not been extensively exposed to Japanese cuisine so don’t hold us to this...
Restoran Wei Kee (伟记饭店深井烧鹅)
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalTo be perfectly honest we do not particularly fancy duck, something about its rubbery texture puts us off but since it was the only dish that was roasted (and their signature dish at that!) we decided to give it a try...
Nasi Kandar Pulau Pinang Haji Ibramsha
Along the Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman, I have tried the top nasi kandar stalls which is Haji Ibramsha, Yaseen and this one. This is ranked the last out of all. There are nothing special out of their curries. It is just moderate and is crowded because of their strategic location.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbThis is our second favourite nasi kandar joint after Sithique. Located on the same row as Coliseum along Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman, this is another shop that has been around since way back when...
Cozy House
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalA glance at the menu told us this will not be an ‘everyday food for the everyday person’ kind of occasion (judging by the 5% government tax as well as the 5% service charge imposed)...
Seetha Ram
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperb.. apart from the usual banana leaf fare, Seetharam also offers vegetarian dishes which are a definite plus, also it's the friendliest restaurant in Brickfields!
Restoran Soong Kee
It has more than 60 years of history. This is a nice air-conditioned little shop located near Pudu Bus Station and Chinatown that serves Beef balls in soup with wantan-stylenoodles topped with minced pork meat. They have been in operations for a long time and are quite famous… having been reviewed by many others.
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalThis is yet another been-there-so-often-it’s-taken-for-granted kind of restaurant. We have a special affection for anything related to beef noodles, and it’s our second favourite kind of dish after Bak Kut Teh.. this is THE place for beef noodles in KL, bar none!
Kelab Tasik Putrajaya
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalMarvellous location, quaint and cosy place and excellent for marine inclined patrons. We were here for a wedding reception and though a bit cramped, the function hall served its purpose well.
Taro Ramen Japanese Noodle Restaurant
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbBut unlike other establishments in the near vicinity, we like Taro Ramen for trying its best to remain as authentic to the original Japanese cuisine it represents as possible.
Capital Cafe
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbplease come pay a visit if only to sample a piece of invaluable Kuala Lumpur history!
Restoran Kader
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsSuperbI’ve actually been coming here since the 1990s, and nothing much has changed. The aroma emanating through the shop has not changed one bit, and is ever as appetizing now as it was back then.
Imperial Garden
harrycath posted www.harrycath.com 20 ReviewsExceptionalit’s pretty easy to get here as the restaurant is right beside PJ’s Armada Hotel. Ample parking space but the ramps are quite narrow and navigating around the tight bends can be a challenge. The restaurant is on the seventh floor, and decorated in the style and fashion of any typical Tai Thong restaurant.
