Foodie Review - Latest
Gerai Makanan Lum Kee
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsApparently, the Lontong stall in the Malay food section is very popular. The crowd literally had to line up, place their orders, pay and leave with their plateful of goodness.
Mei Keng Coffee Shop
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe noodles is tossed in a mix of soy sauce and dark soy sauce, with addition of crunchy lard fritters and fried shallots for that extra ‘umami’ flavour. The portion is above average as well, hence you will definitely get your money’s worth here.
Missing Marbles
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsKinda interested to sample the Slow Braised Lamb Belly and their improved version of Chicken Rice, so I shall leave them for the next trip back.
Lucky Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAlso highly recommended is their Steamed fish fillet (usually threadfin salmon, grouper, or you can go all out and order the “loong dan” or estuary grouper) with homemade noodles, scallions and ginger. Or try their Fish Noodle Soup; made out of real fish hence lending an inherent sweetness to the pot of soup; complete with a QQ texture (al dente) that spoke volume of its freshness.
Thumb’s Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe exterior facade of Thumb’s Cafe may not appear to be extremely alluring aesthetically, but exuding a traditional ‘kampung’ style of aura that beckons you over.
Espressolab Ipoh Garden
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe latte, cappucino and mocha we sampled were all excellent testimonials of their fame.
Restoran Ming Kee
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe weak link here somehow was the char siew/barbecued pork slices seated atop the noodles.
Ray Of Hope Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsRay of Hope Cafe @ Bercham; when doing charity can be delicious.
Wah Chai Seafood
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe meal came to RM87.60/USD29 for the 3 of us. Not exactly dirt cheap nor a princely sum, I would say this is reasonable given the portion and quality of the ingredients used. If you haven’t explored on eating in Menglembu, then the time is nigh to start NOW.
Obanhmi
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAll in all, though that Hanoi breakfast experience is still unmatched to this day, I am sure O Banh Mi will still continue to drive the passion and love for all things Vietnamese that goes beyond the Pho.
Restaurant Yee Heong
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsStarted off with a claypot of their famed Bak Kut Teh; which was passable yet a little light on the herbs that we did not feel the ‘kick’ unlike Pandamaran’s Mo Sang Kor version.
Big Nyonya Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe meal for 3 came to RM82/USD27, including drinks of cendol with gula melaka (not bad, but really small bowl). Definitely worth a try if you are keen on trying Nyonya fares and the conventional fan favourites seem to bore/disappoint you more often than not.
Calanthe Art Cafe
Serves Malaysia 13 States' Coffee, the original and yet the modern style-Ice Blenz, Milk Shake, Smoothies, Soda drinks, Beers, Chilled drinks and etc... Mainly the Asian foods such as the popular choice- Nyonya Laksa, Golden Rice, Daily Special, Rice, soups, western foods selection and etc... Final with the home made dessert such as cheesecake, Brownie in western and asian style, cakes, pudding and etc...
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsCalanthe Art Cafe is a place where you can literally spend hours here either snapping away, slurping away or engaged in some deep reading or thoughts.
Huang Chang Chicken Rice Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsI was stumped as to how they could have cooked the chicken to such dry and tough texture.
Teo Soon Loong Chan Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsWhatever it is, do NOT miss their Or Nee; the ubiquitous Teochew dessert of yam paste, stirred with a good tasty dose of lard oil and sugar, then topped with some mashed pumpkin and ginkgo nuts. A rather sinful way to end a meal, but that’s what desserts are for, right?
