Foodie Review
Restoran Kum Kee 兵如港錦記小食店
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe sheer fact that Kum Kee is still standing strong; overflowing with late night diners nightly is testament enough of their popularity and sustainability in the heart of Ipohans. The foods are priced very reasonably too; a meal for 3 came to less than RM30; including a serving of grandma’s favourite chicken feet for take away.
Pin Sim Sing Kee Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsDefinitely a place that is worthy of a visit; even if you’re unsure of the extended journey to Menglembu.
Jelapang Rojak & Laksa Stall
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThis will be a great spot for tea time snacking in between meals; say after a satisfying lunch at Ma Chai in Menglembu then followed by a platter of fruits rojak.
Yee Fatt Dry Curry Noodles
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAt Yee Fatt, they still do this the best and they have been doing so for umpteen years.
YMCA Cafeteria
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAnd the cafeteria serves something really exotic; shark meat cooked in a variety of ways.
Sun Wen Cau Restaurant
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsWell, in terms of fresh seafood, can’t deny that Sun Wen Cau’s supplies were as fresh as they came. Just that, some of their rendition of common dishes lacked imagination and well, perfection.
Laksa Perlis
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThis is one Halal eatery comes highly recommended if you happen to be in Ipoh.
Pu Yuan Restaurant (檏苑小食馆)
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 Reviewsif you haven’t tasted the noodles at Pu Yuan, then you haven’t tasted what’s a real Hokkien style of fried noodles is.
El Negra Distro & Studio
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsEl Negra deserves a salute for bringing the coffee, arts and music culture to Ipoh; right smack in the heart of old Ipoh town.
The Roquette Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsThe coffee here was slightly better than most of the cafes I went throughout this trip; both priced at RM9/USD3 each.
Vanity Haus Boutique Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAfter all, there are not many cafes around that opens during the odd hours (in between meals), serve really home cooked fares and prices that won’t set your pocket on fire.
Bougainvillea City Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAll in all, the lunch at BCC was a mighty satisfying affair in my books; about RM100 for the 3 of us. We had no rooms for desserts there after, especially when I had to continue the cafe hop throughout the day. But their Tiramisu, Napolean and Crepe Cakes sounded like pretty fascinating affairs.
The Happy 8 Cafe
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsAll in all, The Happy 8 certainly qualified as a place suited for hangouts, long brunches or late dinners.
Something’s Brewing
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsGood Morning Ipoh! ... On this trail of balancing out the sins of homemade snacks with lighter stuff; the roasted summer vegetables in olive oil appeared to be a smart, beautiful and delicious choice.
Ben & Lynette
Motormouth posted www.j2kfm.com 552 ReviewsA quirky, vintage or modern contemporary ambience can only get you so far in roping in new customers, but staying power should always be measured from a point of substance and service.
